Ancona is a province in the central Italian region of the Marche; besides the capital city of Ancona, the province contains other important cities and towns, including Fabriano, Jesi and Corinaldo. The capital city itself offers a wide variety of museums that house exhibits ranging from the religious to the archeological. There is also a wealth of monuments to visit; the Cathedral, for example, was built in the 11th century, over an ancient Greek temple. You should also check out the Trajan Arch, one of the most important Roman monuments of the entire region. Head to the city of Fabriano to check out the Palazzo del Podestà, built in 1255 and the Cathedral of San Veneziano, originally built in the 14th century.
