If you’re unfamiliar with the Italian language, you might assume that the Collegiata of Montevarchi is a college. In fact, it is an ancient church, one of many throughout the small city of Montevarchi. Alongside Montesilvano and Monterosso al Mare, Montevarchi is one of Italy’s coolest cities for ancient architecture, dating back to the twelfth century or earlier. In Montevarchi, you’ll also find the Monastery of Ginestra, the Church of Confraternita della Misericordia, the Church of Sant’Andrea a Cennano in San Ludovico, and the Church of Santa Maria al Giglio.

In general, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find discount hotels in Montevarchi, but if you plan on going in the winter or the summer, be prepared to book well in advance if you want to stay overnight in Montevarchi.
