Barletta is a city in the province of Bari, in the Southern Italian region of Puglia. This is an excellent city to visit for its wealth of monuments that range in date from medieval times to the Renaissance to the modern era. One of the most imposing sights of the city is the Colosso, a huge bronze statue measuring 4.5 meters and dating to around the 5th century; both the origins and who the statue represents are still somewhat controversial topics. The Palazzo della Marra, constructed in the 1500s, is also worth a visit.
