The province of Belluno is located in the northern Italian region of Veneto; in the north, it borders Austria. Almost the entire province is mountainous, being found among the majestic peaks of the eastern Dolomites. Thanks to this beautiful geographic location, the province of Belluno is a favorite tourist destination for both winter and summer outdoor activities. Indeed, Cortina d’Ampezzo, a world famous luxury ski resort, is located in this province. Not far from Cortina, roughly about 12 kilometers away, is San Vito Cadore, another, smaller alpine village also visited by tourists year round. Visitors to the province of Belluno can enjoy hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking, besides the classic Dolomitic sport of skiing. For some culture, you can visit the town of Mel, which houses numerous 17th century buildings that were once home to nobility. There is also the Church of the Addolorata, dating to the 1400's and the imposing Zumelle Castle, founded during the time of the Roman Empire. If you’re in the region of Veneto for a weekend, Belluno could be a fun place to visit.
