The vibrant Alleghe tourism is heavily dependent on the geographic position of the town and on its natural beauty. Indeed, one of the main attractions of the town is Alleghe Lake, or il Lago di Alleghe. This lake is relatively “young”, having been created in the year 1771 as a result of a landslide during which a huge piece of debris from nearby Mount Forca was detached; this debris completely buried a number of towns, but also went on to form a sort of dam against the waters of the Cordévole River. This dam turned out to be impenetrable thanks to the abundant presence of clay within the rocks of the debris.

The river’s waters began filling the basin created by the landslide and after only three days the lake had reached a depth of around 35 meters and a length of about a mile and a half. Today, the lake measures about 1400 meters in length, has a depth that ranges between 17 meters and 55 meters and is located at an altitude of about 966 meters. As mentioned, it is a very popular tourist destination today and visitors can enjoy sport fishing, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and other types of boat rides on its waters.
