One of the most amazing sights in Bagnatica is the Castello Palma Camozzi de Gherardi Vertova di Costa di Mezzate, also known as simply Il Castello di Costa di Mezzate. The castle has very ancient origins, though its existence is documented only as far back as the year 1160. It has witnessed numerous historical events and in 1380 was involved in the expansionist maneuvers undertaken by the Duke of Milan. In the 15th century, the castle was an effective defensive structure that allowed troops from Venice to save themselves from the troops loyal to Milan. As a consequence, though, the Duke of Milan decided to later take revenge on the castles of Costa di Mezzate, conquering them and destroying and burning a number of them.

Externally, the castle is surrounded by defensive walls that follow the topography of the area and equipped with corner towers and additional defensive structures that allowed an ample view of the surroundings. It constitutes one of the best examples of military architecture from the middle ages, though much of its original aspect was lost during Renaissance renovations. The interior of the castle differs somewhat from its armored exterior. There is a 16th century courtyard of rectangular shape, lined on three sides by an impressive portico with Romanesque arches. The rooms are all decorated with frescoes and well preserved.
