What you need to know before traveling to Brindisi

The province of Brindisi is in the southern Italian region of Apulia, or Puglia in Italian, bathed in the northeast by the Adriatic Sea. It has about 80,000 kilometers of coastline, which contains numerous bays and beaches that attract thousands of tourists each year. The province also boasts a number of important protected environmental areas, including Torre Guaceto and Parco delle Dune costiere da Torre Canne a Torre San Leonardo. To round off the multi-faceted nature of the province, there are the many castles and towers, archeological remains, including thermal baths, city walls and streets, and Baroque-style buildings, attesting to its rich history. Besides the capital city, also called Brindisi, you should stop by some of the smaller towns and cities of the province to check out the local way of life. Visit the town of Carovigno, for example, to taste its world famous extra virgin olive oil. If you happen to find yourself in the Apulia region for a weekend, Brindisi should definitely be a stop in your travels.
