The province of Cagliari is located on the island of Sardinia. It is found around the Gulf of Angels and contains mountainous areas, as well as level areas and hills. The main city, also called Cagliari, is located right on the Gulf and attracts a great number of tourists because of its splendid beaches. It has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and boasts a rich cultural heritage. While in the city, you can visit the Roman Amphitheater, dating to the second century and the Basilica of San Saturnino, constructed in the fifth century and the oldest church of the island. For some more ancient history, head to the other towns and cities of the province, like Sestu. Here you’ll find a necropolis and ancient remains dating to the 3rd millennium BC. There are also a number of churches built in the 1500's and 1600's.
