Hotels in Iglesias
The town of Iglesias is found on the Island of Sardinia in the province of Cagliari, near the towns of Portoscuso and Portovesme. The island is a destination for beach and nature lovers, but there is more to see than what mother nature has provided. The town serves as an Episcopal see, and the region is also a productive lead, zinc, and silver mining area. In fact, there is a Museum of Mineraology in the town that is housed inside the town’s mining school. The town’s main cathedral was built in 1288 and is found in the Piazza del Municipio. To the south of the square is the medieval church of San Francesco. The town’s medieval walls are still partially intact, and the Castello Salvaterra, built in the 14th century, is just to the east of the town.
