The province of Catanzaro is located in the southern Italian region of Calabria, which is bathed on the east by the Ionian Sea and on the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Sila mountain chains, as well as the Serre Calabresi are found within this province, as well as more level plains; within the Sila Mountains is found the oldest natural park of the region of Calabria. The presence of the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas has allowed the province to attract thousands of tourists a year to its spectacular beaches; the Ionian coast is the area that is more developed and organized in terms of tourist attractions. The capital city of the province, also called Catanzaro, besides its active beach and night life, offers a wealth of monuments. Check out the Cathedral, constructed in the year 1121, and the numerous other churches of the historical center. You can also stop by the Park of “Mediterranean Biodiversity”.
