The Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale or The National Library is located along the Arno River in the Fortezza da Basso area. Staying in a cheap hotel close to the Central Library of Florence is thus a lovely location. The library was founded in 1714 when a famous Italian scholar, Antonio Magliabechi, donated his entire collection of approximately 30,000 books to the city of Florence. From 1743 onwards, a copy of every book published in Tuscany had to be submitted to the library, which was opened to the public in 1748. Since 1935, the collections have been housed in a building designed by Cesare Bazzaniu and V. Mazzei, located along the Arno River in Santa Croce where EasyToBook.com has several discount hotels right by the Central Library of Florence offering high-quality accommodations in luxurious surroundings with personalized service.

Today the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale is the richest and biggest library of Europe, with collections of books that run through Italian culture starting from the 13th century to today. It has more then 4 millions volumes on its shelves, about 725,000 letters and autographs, and almost 25,000 manuscripts which include the precious Galileian Collection. Literally this library is a haven where anyone, not just history buffs or bookworms, will sigh with awe.
