In the heart of Florence, Italy is the fabulous hillside park spread over 45 hectares (110 acres) called Giardino di Boboli or Boboli Gardens. It is located behind the Palazzo Pitti from which there is also an entrance to the park, right between Porta Romana and Forte di Belvedere. The first owners, the Bobolini family, gave it its name and the park was then established over a ninety year period (1545 to 1655) by various designers. The gardens provide a fantastic view over the city of Florence from the terrace of the "Kaffeehaus". The park is filled with various features such as the botanical displays, the amphitheater used for magnificent festivities, the stalactites that were once surrounded by water in the Grotta del Buontalenti and also the Egyptian obelisk.
Walking around the finest classical park of its kind with its many fabulous fountains, numerous statues from different eras, prestigious marble, granite basin from old Rome, mosaics in hard stones and so much more gives guests a feeling of having stepped back in time.
