Thanks to the antiquity of the town, Arcidosso attractions include a number of historically significant buildings and monuments. Among the more interesting sights of Arcidosso there is the Porta dell’Orologio, or Clock Gate, which is one of the ancient entryways into the historical center of the town. Actually, the historical center of the town was once all there was of Arcidosso and so Porta dell’Orologio, along with the other gates of Porta Talassese and Porta di Castello, constituted the main, guarded, entryways into the town proper.

Porta dell’Orologio is located in the Codaccio district and today contains a commemorative headstone that honors the people of 1860 for the annexation of the town to the Kingdom of Italy. The gates, like Porta dell’Orologio, were also seen as an important connection between the defensive walls around the town and the fortified structure that had the function of protecting the town. These three gates, including Porta dell”Orologio, are part of the “Rete Museale della Maremma”, or the “Maremma Museum Network”.
