What you need to know before traveling to Imperia

Imperia is a province in the northern Italian region of Liguria; it borders France on the west and the Ligurian Sea on the south. The province contains one of the most famous tourist locations in northern Italy, the city of Sanremo, on the Italian Riviera. Known as the City of Flowers because of the large scale cultivation of different types of flowers, Sanremo hosts a number of important sporting and cultural events, among which the Sanremo Music Festival. Besides its cultural events, Sanremo also contains a number of interesting monuments to visit. For example, check out the Cathedral of San Siro, constructed in the 12th century, and the very characteristic Russian Orthodox church, built in the 18th century. The capital city of the province, also named Imperia, constitutes an important tourist destination for its well-equipped port area. It also houses medieval constructions, as well as more modern monuments, such as churches built in the 18th and 19th centuries.
