The province of Latina is found in the central Italian region of Lazio; it is bathed in the south by the Tyrrhenian Sea. Within the area there is Circeo National Park, created in the 1930's to protect the forests and swamplands found here; Latina sights also include another natural reserve, that of Semprevisa. Semprevisa itself is the highest mountain in the Lepini Mountain Range; a number of hiking trials lead up to the peak, attracting tourists interested in outdoor activities. The capital city of the province, also called Latina, is definitely worth a visit as well. Latina attractions include the Municipal Building, an ancient tower and the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Mark. Head out of the capital city to the city of Formia, to check out what remains of the 12 imposing towers that surrounded the city. There are also more ancient remains in the city of Formia, which include an illustrious tomb thought to belong to Cicero, and various Roman fountains. If you’re looking for something fun to do in the region of Lazio for a weekend, Latina could be just the place.
