Orrido di Botri is a limestone canyon, characterized by extremely steep, deep walls of rock, which reach a height of around 200 meters. In some places, the rock faces are only separated from each other by a few meters. The canyon was created by the erosive action of the Pelago River, which flows through the rocky channel, giving rise to an interesting and important natural environment, both in geological and naturalistic terms. Thankfully the site has been declared a natural reserve and this has allowed for the conservation of the canyon and its flora and fauna.

Here you can admire a variety of rare plant species, such as the Pinguicola vulgaris, also known as the Common Butterwort, a carnivorous plant that feeds on insects. As for fauna, the golden eagle makes its home here, as well as a number of other birds of prey. There are two trails that can be followed through the canyon, of varying difficulty, and visitors should be accompanied by a guide and must have the proper equipment. Both trails are relatively challenging. Included within the territory of Orrido di Botri, furthermore, are a number of historical villages worth visiting, such as Montefegatesi and Tereglio, as well as small inns where you can enjoy local cuisine.
