Viareggio is a town of some sixty thousand inhabitants on the Italian Riviera. Viareggio has been a tourist resort since the late nineteenth century and it gets busy at the weekend, Viareggio is bordered by three other towns so you should be able to find accommodation in the area. Visit Torre del Lago where you can go sailing if the mood takes you. If you want something less energetic then take the short bus ride to the medieval village of Pietrasanta.
