In the Milan province, just 20 kilometers from the city of the same name, the town of Agrate Brianza is found. The town is built on top of a Roman city, the ruins of which were discovered in 1880. A Christian epigraph dating from the 5th century was found under the base of a wall in the Agrate church, and a number of other artifacts and mentions in records prove that the city has been inhabited since the Romans fell out of power. In fact, the town is one of the richest in Italy, having ranked seventh in that list in 2003. Still, budget hotels can be found in the city, and EasyToBook.com can help you find the best options for you, and we have hotel reviews to help you decide.
The Chiesa Parrocchiale di Sant’Eusebio is the main church in the town, and it was built in the late 17th or early 18th century, although it has been expanded two or three times since then. The church of San Pietro was built around 1200 and the Church of Santa Anna was built in the 15th century. The Villa Trivulzio belonged to the noble family of the same name in the 1500s, and today is completely restored. Also see the Villa Schira-Corneliani, dating from the 16th to 17th centuries.
