If you have an interest in contemporary art, head off to the old railroad station in the town of Lissone. This re-designed structure contains the Civic Pinacoteca. This, the Galleria Civica d’Arte Contemporarea, hosts exhibits on contemporary art, including a recent retrospect of Giuseppe Mongazzi. For understanding of history, visit the Palazzo Vittorio Veneto. This former middle school now houses the town’s public library. In front of it stands the very first fountain of Freedom Square. Be sure to visit the Villa Balironi-Reati. The interior is quite sumptuous. The stroll along the river to reach it is pleasant. For a reminder of the not-so-distant past, visit the Tergini Palace. It is by the architect Giuseppe Terragini, a rationalist. Construction took place from 1937-1940. The Palazzo reflects the Fascist period of architecture. An even later structure is the modern Municipio Palazzo. Of ancient grace is the 16th century Oratorio d’Assunta and the Prepositurale Church of Santi Pietro and Paolo. The edifice is from 1904-1926, the bell tower from 1927. It consists of a simple Latin cross plan with 3-naves. Inside, are some treasures from its predecessor, destroyed in 1930.
