To the northeast of Milan there is a large public park called the Parco Lambro, or Lambro Park. It is one of the largest parks in Milan, with over 90 hectares of green space for the Milanese to enjoy. You can stay in any number of budget hotels in Milan close to Lambro Park, and it is very convenient to public transportation. No matter which discount hotel near Lambro Park in Milan you choose, you will be probably be close to one of three metro stations on the green line (line 2): Udine, Cimiano and Crescenzago.
The Lambro Park was created by an architect named Casiraghi, in 1936. His goal was to leave as much of the natural landscape in place as possible. He left a good portion of the natural vegetation and water formations in their original form, designing around them. There are also a number of ancient buildings in the park, one of which is a windmill called the Torretta, sitting on top of a small tower that was built in 1600.
