There are more than 170,000 square meters of park land in the Public Garden. The park was named after the Italian journalist, Indro Montanelli, and was the first public city park of its kind.
You can do a fantastic amount of people-watching in the Giardini Pubblici, but that’s not the only reason to choose your cheap hotel near the Public Garden in Milan. There is a lovely villa in the grounds, with a museum inside it highlighting Milanese art through the centuries. There are also a number of sculptures throughout the park that were created by local artists. If you’d like to visit the gardens, they are an easy walk from one of four different metro stops. The two closest are the Porta Venezia and Palestro stops on Linea 1, the red line. Or, if it’s more convenient for you, take the Linea 3 (the yellow line) to either the Turati or Montenapoleone stops.
