A budget hotel near the Marino Palace in Milan is an excellent choice if you would like to stay in the middle of the historic center, near all of the main attractions. The Marino Palace is located on the Piazza della Scala, across from the world famous La Scala Theater. You can walk to many of the sites you’ll want to see. Or if you prefer, take public transportation. You will be close to the Duomo metro stop, several tram lines, and a number of bus routes.

The Palazzo Marino is the seat of Milan’s city government. The building is quite large, spanning the distance between the Piazza della Scala to Piazza San Fedele. It was built in 1577 by a rich merchant, Tommaso Marino, as his family’s residence. You can still see the Marino family crest in the interior courtyard of the palace. Ownership didn’t return to the government until 1781.
