Many travelers to Milan may only think about the city’s central station. But there are actually several other train stations in the city, one of which is Stazione Cadorna. There are a couple of hotels near Cadorna railway station, but if you are on a budget, you won’t find nearly as many cheap hotels near Cadorna railway station as you will near the central station. If you take the express train from Malpensa Airport, you will arrive at the Cadorna railway station. You can then take the green line, or line 3, to get to the central station.. If you plan to visit the Castello Sforzesco or if you want to take a train to Como, you will likely travel through the Cadorna station as well.
The Cadorna station was originally built in 1879, and was designed to look like a chalet. Although it was expanded in 1920, the entire station was bombed and destroyed during World War II. The current station was built after the war. It sits in Piazzale Cadorna, and is convenient to taxis, buses, the red and green metro lines, and even trams which you can take to continue traveling through Milan.
