If you choose a discount hotel in Milan near the Porta Garibaldi railway station, then you will probably become very familiar with the station and its surroundings. You will most likely arrive at your hotel by either a local train that stops at the train station, or by the M2 line of the metro, getting off at the Porta Garibaldi stop.
