Staying inside the ‘inner ring’ of Milan is a good idea if you are visiting the city for tourism. If you are interested in seeing the park, then you can also check the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart) or the University degli Studi di Milano (University of Studies at Milan).
There is an interesting story behind the Park of the Basiliche, which is one of the public parks in Milan. This public park was created as a sort of afterthought to some changes made to buildings outside of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. In 1934, when some buildings were taken down from around the basilica, it opened up some green space. With a few planning adjustments a park was created, connecting the land around the Basilica of San Lorenzo and the Basilica of Sant’Eustorgio. This is why the park’s name means ‘the park of the basilicas.’ When you visit, be sure not to miss the Roman ruins in the park, the San Lorenzo Columns (Le colonne di San Lorenzo).
