One of the major attractions in Milan is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, or the Vittorio Emanuele Mall. The beautiful glass-covered, double-arcaded building is found on the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo. It actually connects all the way to the Piazza della Scala, with many of the most luxurious shops in Milan lining the mall. Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Gucci are all found here.
Here is a tip for tourists in the know - when you reach the intersection of the ‘arms’ of the mall, you will see a crowd of people standing around the mosaic zodiac in the center of the floor. They are waiting for their turn to participate in a Milanese tradition. It is considered good luck to place one of your heels on the testicles of the bull, the symbol for Taurus, and spin in a circle. Don’t worry, you will know where to place your heel, as the spot has been worn down from years and years of Italians and tourists taking a spin.
