A center of Afragola tourism seems to be Piazza del Municipio, which was originally a very small square called “Piazza dell’Arco”. Lining this original square was the small church of San Nicola di Bari, which was later destroyed. The old “universitas” also was found in this square; this was an organization created by the people to represent the city. This organization rented a few rooms of the Palazzo Tuccillo in the first half of the 18th century to act as the municipal building.

At the end of the 1800s, though, the town’s administration decided to knock down some buildings (including the previously mentioned Church of San Nicola di Bari) to create a larger square, or Piazza. A new municipal building was created in 1870, and this is the municipal building that is visible today in the enlarged Piazza del Municipio. This large square and the modern municipal building are often theaters for various cultural events open to the public, such as concerts and the like. Also lining the Piazza del Municipio is Palazzo Migliore, a building dating to the 17th century.
