The church in Naples, Italy, known as the Baroque Church of Santa Maria Donnaregina is not the first church to be located on this same site but it is the name of the church that stands there today. There has been a church on this same site since the year 780; however, the current church called the Baroque Church of Santa Maria Donnaregina was damaged in the year 1293, and a newer one was built standing close by.
The original church still stands and is a wonderful site to visit in the city. There are many fine pieces of artwork inside the church including many frescoes by Peetro Cavallini and Filippo Rusuti. There is also a sarcophagus inside which is one of the main pieces of the church. All of this beauty is easy to experience, when you book one of the budget hotels near the Baroque Church of Santa Maria Donnaregina, in Naples.
