The capital of Oristano province, Oristano has more than 30,000 residents, and has been an important city center for many hundreds of years. At the very center of town lies the Piazza Roma, where the Tower of St. Christopher has stood tall since 1291. In fact, ancient historic buildings are everywhere in Oristano: the Duomo of Santa Maria dating back to about the 16th century; the former home of the gendarmes, Eleonora D'Arborea's house; the church of Santa Chiara, built in the 1400's; and many others. The Antiquarium Arborense Museum is also located here, with its artifacts dating back to the Byzantine and Roman empires.
If you're more of a people person rather than a church history buff, come down to the main street leading away from the Piazza Roma, the Corso Umberto. Here young people gather in the cool of the evenings to hang out, flirt, and meet new people. Or, take a short trip out to popular Torre Grande beach, with its imposing 20 meter circumference tower overshadowing the sunbathers and swimmers. Dozens of hotels in Oristano make it hard to choose, but you can us at EasyToBook.com to find out about these and book all of them with ease.
