Take a trip to the district of Monteortone, where you’ll find one of the most beautiful Abano Terme attractions: the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute. The church itself was built in the 15th century on the spot where, in the year 128, a soldier by the name of Pietro Falco experienced a miracle. He found a wooden image of the Virgin Mary on this spot, and this led him to bathe himself in the waters of a fountain that was located at the foot of Monteortone hill; after this act, he was cured of the plague. The church is in the form of a Latin cross and possesses a bell tower that dates from the 15th century; it actually still contains the wooden image of the Virgin to which Pietro Falco prayed and this makes it a very important destination for religious pilgrimages.

Within the church you can admire numerous amazing works of art that date to the 1400s, including frescoes by the artist Jacopo da Montagnana in the Chapel of the Crucifix; on the walls of the lateral naves there are impressive marble bas-reliefs. The tombs of various priests and nobility are housed in the church as well. Also worth admiring is the entrance to the church, constructed in Istria stone by Matteo Tommaso Allio; finally, next to the church you can visit the ex-Augustinian monastery, with a large Renaissance-style cloister.
