This small, enchanting hill was once extremely rich in natural thermal waters and was very precious to the ancient Romans; indeed, during the time of the ancient Romans the hill was surrounded by villas and spas. It is now considered the birthplace of the thermal resort of Abano Terme and the location responsible for its historical importance; it houses the most ancient thermal spring in the town. Today, you’ll find a park and a 5-star hotel on the hill; the hotel has three pools filled with thermal water, while the park is an excellent destination for anyone searching for immersion in an environment characterized by both natural and historical beauty.

The entrance to the ancient spring is marked by large Corinthian columns and an enormous Doric column topped by a chalice design enveloped in the coils of a serpent, all dating to the beginning of the 1900s. Within the public park, you’ll still find a number of stone “tubs”, which used to be full of steaming hot thermal waters and which today are a powerful symbol of the area’s rich thermal history. Two important Abano Terme sights are found flanking the park’s monumental entrance: the Pinacoteca Civica al Montirone and the Galleria Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea. The former is the Civic Museum of Abano Terme and houses various works of art dating to between the 15th and 20th centuries, while the latter is the headquarters for exhibitions of modern works of art.
