Just northwest of Padua is the lovely small city of Rubano, Italy with its magnificent buildings, lovely scenery, small shops and great restaurants. Rubano is an excellent base camp for visitors wanting to stay close to centers of culture and art, day trips to larger, busier cities and the hot spring areas located close by.
No visit would be complete without seeing the Scrovegni Chapel. Also called the Arena Chapel, the Cappella degli Scrovegni is a spectacular church that houses the 1305 painting by Giotto, which is one of the most significant Western art masterpieces. Other popular attractions are the La Specola, which is an Astronomical Observatory and the 1441-53 equestrian statue of Gattamelata.
