What you need to know before traveling to Pescara

The province of Pescara is located in the central Italian region of Abruzzo; it is bathed on the northeast by the Adriatic Sea. The province boasts great wealth in terms of natural beauty and there are a number of protected areas in Pescara. There is the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, created in 1991, which also includes various artistic and historical itineraries; within the park, you can enjoy mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding. Within Majella National Park, you may still be able to see traces of the Apennine wolf and the Chamois of Abruzzo. The capital city, also called Pescara, attracts scores of tourists thanks both to its historical monuments and its port on the Adriatic. If you’re interested in history, head to the town of Spoltore; sights to admire here include the 15th century convent and the entire historical center. If you’re looking for something fun to do in Abruzzo over the weekend, Pescara may be the perfect place.
