In the region of Toscana lies the province of Pisa. The chief town of the province has the same name, Pisa. It is one of the popular tourist destinations in Italy. For one, there are so many historic buildings to discover. Probably the most famous is the Torre Pendente also known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The Porta di San Ranieri south of Cathedral in Pisa features bronze doors from the year 1180. Other features of the Pisa Cathedral are its Façade and the Pulpit. The Battistero is a separate construction from the cathedral back in the year 1153. The Museo Nazionale di San Matteo is another great wonder to visit. It was once the Benedictine Convent of San Matteo until the year 1886. Structures and architecture of this museum, as well as the paintings and artifacts goes all the way back to the 12th century. Another popular destination is the Palazzo dei Cavalieri and the Palazzo della Carovana. It is east of the Botanic Garden which is a beautiful castle which once housed the training for knights.
