The Pisa Cathedral, located in Pisa, Italy, is also known as the Duomo. This medieval structure is the center of the Piazza dei Miracoli. Construction started on the Pisa Cathedral in 1063 by an architect called Buscheto, and continued sporadically until 1350. An imposing church complex, the Pisa Cathedral is built in a Romanesque style, who originated this style. Materials used to build this structure include cut stone and white marble, with some colored marble in the facade. There are gorgeous mosaics inside of the Piazza dei Miracoli, which seem to be influenced by the Byzantine or Roman empire.

The huge main doors of the Piazza dei Miracoli are crafted of bronze. The old entrance was closer to the Tower of Pisa, and it was created around 1180, then moved to its present location when these doors were built. More art is above these doors, as well as in the dome, the apse, the cupola, the coffer ceiling, the pulpit, and the central plinth. The patron Saint of Pisa, St. Ranieri, is buried in the Piazza dei Miracoli, along with Pope Gregory VIII.
