The Piazza dei Cavalieri in Pisa, Italy is quite an important and unforgettable landmark. It is one of only two main squares in Pisa. The name Piazza dei Cavalieri is Italian for “Knight’s Square”, which is perfectly logical when you realize that in medieval Pisa, this square was a political center. History lovers will have much to see and do in this area. Rebuilt in 1558, the square is lined with ancient churches as well as other structures that all have historical meaning.
There are also several very nice shops in and around the square, along with other venues of the type that are suited to tourists and visitors to Pisa. Some of the older structures you will definitely want to see include the Church of the Knights of St. Stephen, the Muda Tower, the Church of St. Rocco, and the Canonica. Don’t miss the statue of Cosimo I, or the Palazzo della Carovana.
