For nature lovers, an important part of Anguillara Sabazia tourism is found in Bracciano Lake, or Il Lago di Bracciano. This lake, also sometimes called Sabatino Lake, is volcanic in origin and is located in the northern part of the Roman province. The area around the lake is characterized by a particular natural value; indeed, these lands are included in the Bracciano Regional Park. Despite urban encroachment, the area still preserves riparian vegetation and areas of vast forests. The existence of such areas greatly favors the presence of both aquatic and non-aquatic birds. The waters of the lake, moreover, are especially rich in fish, also thanks to the existence of a ban on motorized vehicles in the lake.
You can enjoy a number of water sports on the lake, such as windsurfing and sailing, as well as activities around the lake, such as mountain biking and walking. Natural beauty is not the only beauty of which the area around the lake boasts, however. Indeed, the small towns around Bracciano Lake each have their own historical and artistic monuments, all worth visiting. Besides the town of Anguillara Sabazia, you can also stop by Trevignano Romano and Bracciano. These towns possess great examples of medieval architecture, and their historical centers are easily reached from the lake; they’re also worth visiting for their exquisite local cuisine.
