Montelanico is a fairly small little town, with just over one thousand inhabitants. To declare it a Podunk, however, would be incorrect. Through much of the year, life in Montelanico may seem fairly uneventful to the visitor, but every summer, the city plays host to the famous Arrivano i Corti film festival. This festival hosts films and filmmakers from around the entire world. While Arrivano i Corti may not have the same kind of cultural status as say, Cannes in France, or Colorado’s Sundance, the festival nonetheless draws its share of innovative directors from the independent, professional, and completely amateur crowds, with many films from directors around Italy.
