Alongside the Church of San Francesco, this is one of the neatest museums in Italy, Museo Nazionale Romano. Museo Nazionale Romano has some fascinating exhibits, such as the remains of Caligula’s Ships. These ships were built by Caligula at his craziest in order to worship ancient Egyptian Gods. In his own fit of craziness, Benito Mussolini had the ships excavated so as to liken himself to the ancient Roman emperors. The ships were eventually destroyed in WWII. Today, only a few remnants remain, and they are on display in this museum.

Like Nepi or Nettuno or any other area in Italy, Nemi can get quite packed during the vacation seasons. This is thanks in part to Italian Americans visiting family, as well as general sightseers.
