Situated in Rome’s historical district, Campo dei Fiori is a famous square with a large number of hotels in the near vicinity. Campo dei Fiori, which translates into “Field of Flowers”, is an important and famous piazza, or square, in the center of Rome. The square became famous on 17th February, 1600, as the location where the philosopher and monk, Giordano Bruno, was burned at the stake for heresy by the Inquisition. Since 1889 a statue of Bruno has stood in the square’s centre.
