The Modern Art Gallery is housed in the Palazzo delle Belle Arti, which was once a pavilion created during the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, held in 1911. The collections in this gallery are composed of many important paintings and other works of art, including sculptures, by Italian artists. The works located here date to the 19th and 20th centuries, and another museum has been dedicated to works since 1968. Artwork found in the Modern Art Gallery includes pieces by neoclassical painters, historical painters, the Romantics, the macchiaoli, the metaphysical artists, like de Chirico, the Futurists, the Pointillists, the Divisionists and artists like Ardengo Soffici.

The upper room contains works by foreign artists, like Klimt, while the museum also reserves space to host temporary exhibits. After you admire the masterpieces in this museum, head over to the Palatine Museum, the Castel Sant’Angelo Museum and the Capitolini Museums to enjoy their treasures.
