Pros: Friendly owners, an older couple, within reach of two metro stations.
Cons: I would not stay in this hotel again. three nights was too long. tiny tiny room, thin walls, could hear the man in the next room snoring, very noisy staff, the wife although a nice lady never stopped shouting, could not talk in a normal voice, even late at night and 5am in the morning, door buzzer going all day and most of the night. did not like the area although within reach of piazza esquilino and santa maria maggiore the piazza vittorio emmanuelle is not nice especially for a woman alone at night.

Pros: The hotel staff is incredible friendly. however, they don't speak a word english, so hand gestures is the way to go if you don't speak italian.
Cons: We were given a wrong room, so we had to move to 'our' room the next day. the toilets were broke, so we were given a bucket to use to flush. this was however fixed during the first day. no hot water in the shower when we arrived. they do have internet there, but it doesn't reach the rooms in the top floors, plus the code they have handwritten on a paper is pretty much unreadable, we were never able to log on...

Pros: The couple that own the hotel were so kind and tried hard to communicate with us even though we spoke no italian. our rooms were always very clean and i never had any problems there. the location was fantastic! very close to a metro and within an easy walking distance of the colosseum- 10 minutes. this is a hotel that you want if you are looking for a more basic stay for a really good price.

Pros: I stayed at hotel lussemburgo for two weeks. this hotel is run by a very friendly and nice family, and was in a good location for easy access to the major sights of rome. my room was clean and a good breakfast was served every morning.
Cons: My one major complaint was that the phone in my room was completely useless to me. i couldn't use an international phone card on it, and therefore spent two weeks using payphones on the street to call the u.s. if you have a cell phone that works overseas, this wouldn't be a problem. also, if you don't speak italian, and expect to need a lot of assistance and help from the management, this is not the place to stay. they are super nice, but no one who is there regularly speaks english.

Pros: The owners are delightful and could not have been more helpful. the rooms are clean and comfortable. the location was ideal, between two tube stations and accessible by various buses. even though it was the beginning of the italian holidays, there were still a good choice of reasonably priced restaurants in the area for evening meals. we particularly liked being able to walk to some of the main sites, while still being slightly out of the busy city centre. i would heartily recommend the hotel.
