Hotel staff was friendly. great location. very near to metro station and stop for many hop-on-hop-off bus tours. good value for money. though not exactly a hotel, rooms were cosy. beds are a bit too firm but they provide soft mattress to go on it upon request. despite cold weather, rooms stay warm. not an issue on summer months as the room comes with air conditioning. room came with a computer with internet connect, albeit a very old computer. it was decent enough to check mail and search for destinations to visit.
Although not a big minus, the bed and breakfast is only accessible by an apartment type door which is not easily spotted and opens up to a staircase. was not a problem for me but some people may find it hard to carry the luggage up.

Staff were excellent, very polite and helpful. rooms were very clean.
Yes. breakfast was shocking, justa few things for 3 of us, dumped ona tray put in middle fo the table. no plates, no bread at all. however, on asking, they did try their best but i'm afraid still very inadequate. also the 'breakfast graden' wasn't much of a graden, it was an area used for storage of cans/bikes, etc so not very picturesque! i was with a group of 3 but stayed ina single room. the info said the room will have a minibar- it didn't. i had no wardrobe or anywhere to put things when i took out from suitcase, so everything had to be stored in the suitcase for the enitre stay. no tea/coffee makign facility, not even a vending machine.

The staff were extremely helpful carrying our suitcases up the stairs, offering us coffee and water, fruit and tea. we have nothing bad to say about our stay. the b&b is in a great location, the family run business is concerned only about the welfare of its guests. the breakfast was good - croissants, yoghurt, fruit, cake, coffee and fruit juice. the room was spacious and clean as was the bathroom. we will defintely stay there again next time we are in rome.
We have nothing bad to say about this b&b. everything was good about it.

The owners of this hotel are wonderful, they couldn't do enough for us. our rooms were very clean and comfortable and the balcony that came with one of them, was such an added bonus. i would highly recommend this for its value for money and wonderful, polite helpful staff.

The lovely couple that run this hotel were warm and welcoming.it is a relatively new hotel, the rooms were spacious and were offered a choice of soft or hard mattress.the beds are more queensize and the single beds are larger than most hotels i have stayed in rome of 3 star and 2 star.the breakfast was abundant with the typical italian sweet pastries~fresh fruit and yoghurt~all delivered to your room.showers were good.rooms facing the inner court had lovely little terraces overlooking the main terrace.air con and tv with a reasonable choice of english speaking chanels~even a mini fridge to keep your drinks etc.this is a gem of a hotel and i will definitely be staying there when i return to rome.central to all the main sites~shopping and station to airport.the hotel arranged a car to airport at a reasonable price for three people.i have nothing negative to say about porta fortuna.first class service for 2 star prices.many thanks to susanna and co. for making us feel at home.just a note that there are no lifts,my father at 82 managed the first floor easily.

We arrived early around 11am and the lady in the front desk was able to get us a room ready in half hour. in the meantime, she gave us information about the area, tourist attractions, a map and cold beverages. the hotel is 5 minutes walk from the rome termini station and another train station. great gelato place on the same block where tourist bus were making stops. many outdoor restaurants. supermarket on the corner called sma (left) and a mini market (walk right for 2 blocks) that opens late with cheap wine (3 for 5 euros). extensive cable, refrigerator, toiletries (dove body wash, dove 2in1 shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes, free water bottles... the breakfast is good (croissants, pastries, yogurt, juices, teas, coffees). they bring it to you in the patio. there are rooms with there own balconies and rooms that walk into the patio. our room was where the patio was. every night we bought a bottle of wine and swing on the patio chair while looking at the stars. very relaxing after a day of touring/walking around the city.
The hotel staff uses the patio to have dinner and hang out during the evening. i guess that is fine until there are guess using it. some staff members can be loud too especially on the mobile.

The hotel is easy to find and well positioned - 5 minute walk to roma termini. the street looks a bit dodgy - but there is a lot of graffitti everywhere in italy it seems and hotel is very secure with access from the street only by reception admitting you when you ring the buzzer. very friendly staff who graciously put wine in the fridge and supplied glasses - showed us how to use the tv, woke us up as asked. good aircon units, very clean, given choice of rooms, some rooms undergoing re-furbishment
Stairs are steep but we always found someone around to help with the bags. some beds are very big for the room - but comfortable if you like a 'firm' mattress
