Hotel Romulus Rome Location (Map)
The Hotel Romulus Rome is situated in the northern area of Rome on the Via Salaria, close to the beautiful park of Villa Ada. Rome has two international airports and the connections from the airport to the city centre and the hotel are excellent. The hotel is not far away from the Fidene train station and trains to reach the centre of Rome depart every 30 minutes.
The Via Salaria (salt road) is one of the oldest roads in Italy. It was the route by which salt was transported from the coast to Rome. The ancient Romans went to great lengths to promote and preserve the salt trade in Italy, recognising the benefits of salt as a preservative and it's many health benefits. Salt took on a religious and social significance in the ancient world connecting it with the idea of a covenant or a binding relationship. To eat salt with another person was to create a bond of friendship. Throwing salt over your right shoulder would remove a curse. In some cultures salt denoted a position of honour and the placement of the salt cellar declared that person the "salt of the earth"…
How to reach the Hotel Romulus?By car: Arriving by car is possible and extremely convenient for a number of reasons. First of all the hotel has a large parking area and therefore is a popular hotel with businessmen travelling to Rome from the North. The hotel is also strategically located as it is near the Main Florence Rome Motorway the A1. If you are arriving from the city centre we suggest you take a taxi or a Cotral Bus from Piazza Fiume which is located at the start of Via Salaria.
By train: Rome's main railway station and located in the heart of the city centre is Termini. Termini is only a 20 minute taxi journey away. from the Hotel Romulus. The Eurostar train to Rome coming from the North runs parallel to the Via Salaria and actually passes our Hotel. The closest railway station is Tiburtina but unfortunately only some Inter City Trains stop here. All express trains and Eurostars arriving from Florence, Milan, Naples and Italy's main cities stop at Termini so the city center is ideal for anybody travelling by train. You can also take the bus no. 135 from the Tiburtina Train Station, the bus stop is only 3 minutes farway walking distance.
By airplane, from Ciampino Airport: A courtesy bus from Ciampino will drop you off in the city centre in Via Marsala right next to the main railway station Termini. Hotel Romulus is a 20-minute taxi journey away from the station, but be careful not to take any of the unofficial taxis outside Termini as they will almost certainly overcharge you!
