"Quiet But Central"

The hotel is very central being situated across the road from the Roman forum but is tucked away from the main hustle and bustle so that there is no traffic noise to contend with when resting. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The only slightly negative thing is that the double beds are really just 2 singles pushed together.

"Major positives, minor gripes"

Fantastic location for pretty much everything. Hotel is clean, modern, well organised and the staff friendly and efficient. The restaurant, even by Roman standards, is extortionate. The gardens are very pretty and a nice place to relax after a day's exploring. But paradoxically, here's my gripe; the hotel is clearly targeting the family market (hence the family suites) and yet my children were told they couldn't play in the gardens because of the hotel's history as a convent (!?). Seeing as it's your prime asset to families why restrict it on such a flimsy pretext? Are you a hotel or a convent? And given the prices, I would rather pay less to stay somewhere else without a garden if the children are prevented from using it anyway. A daft manner in which to puncture an otherwise pleasant stay.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. good breakfast buffé. nicely decorated rooms.
Cons: The trafic is very noicy all day, if your have a room overlooking the street.

"A really nice hotel"

Pros: A really nice hotel. clean, fresh decor that looks to have bee recently redecorated. it's got a great great outdoor terrace area with a private garden and citrus trees. staff were friendly and helpful. about a 10 to 15 minute walk to colosseum and the entrance to the forum, but there is plenty to see on the walk so i really enjoyed it.
Cons: It is a little tricky to get to using public transport (i took the metro to circo massimo and walked for about 10 minutes - nice walk alongside the palatine hill), but i don't think that is unusual in rome.

Cons: Very bad machine coffee ar breakfast. you do not expect that in a boutique hotel. extra charge for room service 6 euros is unexeptable when you are paying 430 euros per night. lastly, the family room for 4 persons had only one small office and one chair. we were not able to play even a table game with our children.

Pros: There was a very welcoming and helpful approach from all those i encountered at the front desk. the position of the hotel was ideal for exploring rome and i really appreciated the option of a restaurant for night meals. the meal prices were reasonable the menu range interesting and the service excellent.

Pros: This hotel is a real haven of tranquility, yet right on the doorstep of the roman forum and colosseum. lovely gardens to the rear of the hotel where you can enjoy breakfast, dinner or relax with a drink. we stayed in a superior room over looking the gardens and it was really quiet. we even had the only arched window. would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be close enough to walk to the sights (the hotel is also within an easy walk to the colosseum metro station) but not right in the midst of the noise of the city.

A really nice hotel

Kolbe Hotel Rome – The prestigious Demeure is located just in front of the Forum Romano, shaded by the famous and Romantic “Palatino” Hill, where the legend says that Romolo & Remo have been breast-fed by the wolf.

Once a magnificent historical building, it has been recently restored interpreting and renewing the original décor and giving to its guests a touch of the past along with modern comforts.

The 72 Rooms & Suites are lovely furnished and well supplied with all comfort: individually controlled airconditioning/heating, direct dial telephone, safety box, hairdryer, satellite tv (remote control), minibar, Wireless Internet connection. The bathrooms are covered with high-quality colourful marble and ceramics and some of them are provided with shower or hydromassage bathtub.
