How you can get to Matisse B&B
By public transport, from Fiumicino Airport: Arriving from Fiumicino airport, take the "Leonardo" shuttle train to Termini railway station. From here, follow the directions by train below.
By public transport, from Ciampino Airport: If you are arriving from Ciampino airport take a local train or a shuttle bus (Terravision or Schiaffini) up to Termini railway station. From here, follow the directions by train below.
By train: The main railway station, Termini is just a few minutes walk or bus ride from Matisse. Matisse is located at 243 Via Nazionale, just a 10-minute walk from Termini. Exit the station and turn left, walking through Piazza Della Republica and then left onto Via Nazionale. Or take bus lines #64, 40, 70 or 170 to the first “Via Nazionale” stop. Once you get to the building ring both the first and second Matisse Bells. The property is just past the fountain Scala C, 2nd Floor.
By car: Coming from the North, take A1 highway heading towards Rome. Take exit at Roma Nord and then take the GRA (Grande Raccordo Anulare) ring road. Exit at Settebagni and follow the signs for the city center-Termini railway station. Arriving from the south, take A1 highway heading towards Rome. Take exit at Roma Sud then take the GRA( Grande Raccordo Anulare). Exit it Appio S.Giovanni and follow signs for the city center-Termini railway station. Matisse is situated on the main road leading from termini, located at 243 Via Nazionale. Once you get to the building ring both the first and second Matisse Bells. We are just past the fountain Scala C, 2nd Floor.

Cons: The hotel was not actually at the matisse, but at another newer property. roberto, the owner, brought us to another property of his, which was very near the colosseum. the location was actually a little better. i am not sure which property was better, because we did not go in the first.

Cons: Arrived at the hotel and the owner called a taxi and we were moved to a sister b and b. great location though.
Cons: Quite confusing at first as it is not really hotel, but rather a set of apartments in rome. we have been greeted at the door at stated address of the hotel and then have been offered to move to a different place (nearby), we have agreed to see the apartments and liked it so we stayed, but it was a rather confusing situation as you do not know what to expect. another downside is that the hotel apparently does not accept credit cards but only payments in cash! when we pushed the owner for accepting our payment by card he got all offended, but agreed in the end. we have decided to pay in cash in the end as did not trust the owner enough to provide him with details of our card just in case. other than that perfect location, apartments look nice too.

Cons: Leggendo la descrizione del b&b, valutando la posizione e sentendoci garantiti dalle "4 stelle" abbiamo prenotato questo b&b...gravissimo errore!
parte già tutto male quando per avvisare del nostro arrivo ci annunciano che verremo spostati in altra struttura...ma all'arrivo la mia prima domanda è perche' e l'operatore ci da la stanza a via nazionale...
posizione centrale davvero ma varcato il portone, salite le scale...e superato l'ingresso comincia l'incubo:
-sala colazione: una cucina decadente con i mobili che cadevano a pezzi e il soffitto pieno di muffa
-camera piccolissima con lavandino che perde, buchi alle pareti, illuminazione arrangiata, nioente shampoo o bagnoschiuma ma 2 dispenser attaccati uno nella doccia ( pieno ma con sapone diluito) e uno sul lavandino (vuoto)
- alla richiesta di pagare con carta ( cosa presente sui vari siti di prenotazione) mi vien negato dicendo che non era previsto
-fattura? no sono un b&b e mi rilascia una quietanza di pagamento su carta non intestata o timbrata;
- non richiede i documenti al check in...ma prentende i 2 euro di tassa di soggiorno (...andranno mai al cumune se non ha dichiarato la nostra permanenza???).
- aria condizionata: su mia richiesta mi viene detto che mi costava 5 euro in più: sulla copia di prenotazione l'aria condizionata era inclusa come la colazione "continentale"...su mia insistenza mi viene dato il telecomando senza supplemento
-bagno: lavandino che perde...spazi stretti...biancheria "vecchia".
-camera....crepe e buchi chiusi con la carta gommata...
finalmente: colazione: non ci sono tavolini e quindi o ti siedi sul divano e cerchi di arrivare al tavolino o fai all'in piedi! megli in piedi visto che la colazione continanetale self serice 24h prevede:
- formaggini del discount
-burro del discount
-succo di frutta bravo rauch solo gusto ace ( se nn ti paice ti attacchi)
-bollitore acqua per the lipton e nescafe
-latte ( come si riscalda è un mistero)
- cornetti ( quelli imbustati duri di 1 euro otto pezzi) a cioccolata o bianchi
-marmellate in barattolo e barattolo di nutella
- cerali....
ah dimentticavo 3 bottiglie di acqua levissima del rubinetto!!!
non mi sento di consigliare questo posto a nessuno...davvero esperienza orribile...
se le loro sono 4 stelle...io vivo nella reggia di caserta
Cons: I was surprised that there was not as hotel or just a rented appartment nearby. you receive breakfast in a cafe nearby. it is not bad, but just maybe for others that might be relevant information. also info said all rooms have air conditioner. breakfast could be more diverse.
Cons: Rather strange hotel set-up with no reception or staff on duty. it seemed more like a small apartment with ensuite bedrooms rented out. not really what we expected from a hotel.
Cons: The matisse is an apartment with kitchen facilities on the fourth floor of a building in a quiet backstreet and not a hotel as expected. there was no air conditioning as stated on the site (open a window), or tea/coffee provided (there are plenty of cafe bars nearby). will recommend to family and friends.
