Monti Guest House Rome    

Homely guest house with very friendly staff. Safe and charming neighbourhood and close to the centre. Very good location - close to Termini from where either you take the metro for 1 stop or walk to the guest house. Historic centre is very much walkable. Vatican can be accessed by metro. Loads of trattorias and bars giving plenty of options for food.Rooms are small but warm and cosy. Very clean. Had very noisy boarders next door, but was too tired, so just slept through.

Pros: The room was well decorated and in the morning they give you breakfast in bed. the breakfast consists of a croissant, coffee and orange juice and although minimal, the croissant was tasty and the coffee was well made. the hotel was in a decent location and is very close to a metro station.
Cons: The room was incredibly smaller than we expected. once you put your suitcases out there is not much room to move around. the shower and toilet were equally cramped. the toilet seat was made of cheap plastic which felt like it would break at any moment. the water pressure in the sink was really low however the shower had amazing pressure. the hotel informs you on their website that they have wifi. the hotel does have wifi but the receptionist who managed the desk at night gave us a password that didnt work. and when we tried to explain the problem to her she didnt seem to understand as she did not speak any english at all. this also meant that we were not able to get any information about the surrounding area from the receptionist. the receptionist who managed the desk during the day was always absent. when she was present she was always absent. on the day we left we asked the receptionist if we could leave our luggage with the reception and collect it later. she informed us that they could not do this for us which meant that we spent the entirety of that day lugging our bags around. all in all, monti guest house is not reasonable for the price. i have stayed in cheaper hotels in italy and received a better service. i would recommend looking for another hotel within the same price range and location.

Pros: Decent hotel and very friendly staff. good location but not quite easy to find, especially when you are driving a car and if you are not quite familiar with rome.
Cons: The only negative thing was finding the hotel for the first time. better driving directions needed on the web site.

Pros: The male owner was very friendly and helpful, and being brought breakfast in bed til 10.30 was great. its in a good location too, close to a metro and you get a discount at the restuarant next door if you mention you're staying there.
Cons: The room is tiny. the door can't open the whole way and we could barely fit our suitcases in. also, it's only the guy that can speak english. but was still good if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep among siteseeing.

Pros: Helpful and friendly staff. convenient location. quiet back street. good value for money.
Cons: Shower door in a state of collapse. the room was tiny. had we stayed there longer, these things would have been an issue. as it was we were there only one night. the hotel may be inexpensive but i think the shower door should not have been in such a state of disrepair.
