Prime Hotel Villa Torlonia Rome LocationPrime Hotel Villa Torlonia Rome Location (Map)

Near the hotel you'll have the chance to admire the following places of interest.
Villa Torlonia: One of the most recent Roman villas, that used to belong to a noble family. It still keeps a particular beauty due to the original scenery of the British garden, one of the few examples in Rome, and to the rich and unexpected quantity of artistically designed buildings all over the park.

La Casina delle Civette (literally translated The Birds' House): Main residence of Prince Giovanni Torlonia until the 1938, it is a very peculiar construction in liberty style that had its name taken from the presence of a large stained glassy window with two owls between ivy’s branches. It is one of the most singular and interesting works made during the first years of the last century.

Il Casino Nobile: It was the ball room of Torlonia residence, a majestic building enriched by an impressive pronaos erected to improve its visibility for all those that were passing by the main Nomentana street.

Porta Pia: Built according to Michelangelo's project, Porta Pia is famous most of all for the “breccia”, a hole in the wall opened on the 20th of September 1870 by the Bersaglieri, a special military section of the Italian army, during the historical period that brought to the unification of what we know today as Italy and that put to an end what was known as the Papal Empire. That's when Rome became the Capital of Italy.

Mausoleo di Santa Costanza: One of the most representative works of the ancient architecture. It was one of the first examples of Christian building with a central structure that has been entirely preserved till today. The building is often chosen by the Roman’s couple for their weddings.

The breakfest there is wonderful and the wait staff works very hard to make sure you are well nourished. the location of the hotel is quiet, but far from the action.
We switched from a 3 star to this 4 star hotel thinking the room might be a littlenicer for the same price. we were wrong in that repsect. the rooms do not resemble the pictures and were smaller that the 3 star. there is not one channel in english. the 3 star had channels in english. the sheets were not clean on the second day. the safe advertised is not in your room, but at the desk and there is no computer to use which our 3 star hotel had. the four stars are very misleading for this hotel and while cheap it far from the action of rome and seems to cater more to local italians that those from abroad. after two days we were back at our original hotel that had a better location, friendlier front desk staff and a better room all at 3 stars.

The neighborhood felt very safe and there is a metro stop only a short walk away (which we used to travel to trevi, vatican city, etc for only 1euro each way).
The shower is incredibly small. it's hard to soap your feet if you're tall (i hit my head on the shelf the first try).

This was an excellent location on the fringes of the city. it was 5 mins from the metro and 5 min to the termini.the breakfast was really great and set us up for the day. there are plenty of good resturants in the area and so there is no real need to go back into the city. no trouble on the metro coming back at night, but it is always crowded nearly all the time.
The shower cubicle was very small and it was a struggle to have a really good shower.

We were very lucky to have a 'suite', which was really a room in the garden above the carpark - however that meant that we had some outdoor space in relative privacy
Although the staff were friendly the other guests wer not.

Dissapointed in the tv , all italian channels no international tv.option of an evening meal would have been good. apart from this i would recomend this hotel .

Friendly staff. the rooms we had were clean, comfortable and air conditioned.breakfast was good quality and waitress staff v friendly.transport into and around rome was very easy from here and the area was quiet as stated in the literature save for some building work near by-that will not be for ever.first hotle visited in rome but would recommend. local eating out was a bit limited but may needed to have walked around abit more.
Frustrated to walk by the bar which never opened. maybe if we had asked at reception they would have served us.a sourse of amusement rather than a real problem.
