In the Campania region lays the province of Salerno. The city of Salerno is the capital of the province with the same name. You’ll find it sitting atop the hills in Salernum. There are a lot of places to visit while you’re in the city. A weekend Salerno has to offer may not be enough. The Ruins at Paestum or Zona Archeologica alone is a tourist destination with many tourist spots. Greek architecture in yellow limestone can be seen in the Basilica, Forum, Temple of Ceres, Temple of Hera, and Via Sacra. The Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula is a huge building created in 1308 but features 17th and 18th architecture. It also features the staircase built by Vanvitelli. The Cathedral of San Matteo is another historic building from the year 1080 during Robert Guiscard’s time.
