The town of Trequanda has long held some mystery for the Italians. Due to a fire that destroyed the archives in Arezzo in 1387, much of the documents which described the history were lost. The town used to be completely surrounded by protective walls, but today the castle’s battlements are the only walls that remain. The tower and five bastions survive as well. A truly incredible monument in Trequanda is the clock tower that dates from 1380. Also be sure to visit the parish church, dating from 1300, and the 12th century Chiesetta del Sodo.
